METEOR Fireball makes landfall in
Melchor de Mencos, Guatemala April 30, 2012
According to reports coming out of Melchor de Mencos, Guatemala, at around 10pm residents of the border town reported that they saw a great cosmic ball of fire fly across the night sky and make landfall between Guatemala and Belize, tremors, lightning and a loud thunder shortly followed the impact. Melchor's Municipal Firefighters Association corroborated the eyewitness accounts via social media saying that the landing of the meteorite was followed by tremors and loud explosions. The firefighters along with the army closed off the area to control the fire.
